Samuel Taylor Coleridge - Selected Poetry

Samuel Taylor Coleridge – Selected Poetry (1989) Edited by William Empson & David Pirie – Carcanet
Unearthed by Crappy Old Books – where faded glory meets foxed pages.

This 1989 Carcanet edition brings together Coleridge’s most haunting and hypnotic verse—The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Kubla Khan, Frost at Midnight—curated with critical bite by William Empson and David Pirie. Empson, never one to let Romantic mysticism off the hook, brings his trademark analytical fire to Coleridge’s smoky blend of genius and opium-fuelled abstraction.

Our copy? Dog-eared like an old sailor’s map, with that irresistible “forgotten sixth-form bookshelf” musk. The cover’s a bit curled, but the poetry still hits like moonlight on a rotting ship deck.

Crappy Old Books – Selling books with soul, not shelf appeal.

Cover has been wrapped in plastic protection but it wasn’t done very well and the front has some air-gaps making it look odd, but its otherwise a very good copy, the the spine uncreased.
